Sierra Leone, an ideal base for leisure activities

Sierra Leone offers abundant opportunities for recreation. The unspoiled nature and the pristine waters make Sierra Leone an ideal base for leisure activities of all kinds and profound recreation. Relaxing on the beach and enjoying the natural beauty is one thing, but Sierra Leone promises to the visitor also “to have fun” while on holidays. Banana Island gathers more interesting things to do and recreational activities than any other destination in Sierra Leone. Daltons Banana Guesthouse organises the following activities: Fishing and snorkeling trips, scuba diving for beginners and certified divers, guided forest walks, historical tour of the island, excursions to Turtle islands, other watersports.

A proposed plan for a 4 day holiday in Sierra Leone focused on recreation would begin with a historical tour of Banana Island followed by a short introduction of the community and the local activities. On the next day a sport fishing trip could also be combined with snorkeling in the shallow reefs. On the third day have an early breakfast and start the 3 hour hike to the village of Ricketts. Superb bird watching and small mammals can be spotted on the way. If you choose not to hike back you may pre charter a boat to transport you to the resort. In the fourth day, enjoy the unspoiled Banjoko beach, read your book on a hammock or chill out on the ocean view canopy platform.  For longer stays we highly recommend a 3 day excursion to the Turtle Islands.

Snorkeling is a popular activity amongst our guests due to the shallow reefs around the islands that attract vibrant aquatic life. Snorkeling boat trips require little prior experience and are great fun for sea enthusiasts. The water conditions around the island guaranty suitable snorkeling locations at all times as the long coasts of Banana Island create many protected areas and ideal conditions for the sport.
